Senior Software Engineer - Targeting Print

Targeting (AT) technologies team based in Dublin. The Audience Targeting group provide a key cornerstone to our advertising products. The team builds infrastructure to capture and identify potential targetable audiences for our advertisements and provide feedback on their interaction. This is done at significant scale and volume on the latest technologies. Current technologies include Redis, Membase, Oracle, Hadoop, Java, ActiveMQ and MySQL.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the implementation of software to stated business and technical goals
  • Create and/or maintain Java based applications and web services Looks for areas of innovation in projects
  • Be flexible with regard to project assignments
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal (day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written forms (requirements and design specifications) with local and remote team members
  • Leadership and mentoring experience of more junior engineers
  • Helps in effectively decomposing feature implementation into associated tasks for planning & tracking purposes as part of a delivery team
  • Assists in assessing project risks associated with development activities
  • Create and/or maintain appropriate design artifacts and documentation to enable broad team participation
  • Perform various duties that advance the capabilities of the engineering team:
    • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends, particularly as they apply to the online advertising industry, the internet and rapid software development
    • Actively contribute with idea sharing, brainstorming sessions, etc so as to contribute creatively - not just through execution
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Perform additional job-related duties as requested

Skills

  • Demonstrated engineering skills associated with a Senior Software Engineer role on software development projects
  • Demonstrated experience of design and implementation of Java applications
  • Sound understanding of Object Oriented Analysis & Design principles
  • Experience of building user interfaces and applications using Java
  • Recent database experience in either Oracle, Sybase or MySQL
  • Experience with JavaScript, CSS, PL / SQL
  • Experience of large volume frameworks an advantage - Hadoop, JPPF, Talend an advantage Good demonstratable working knowledge of Unix/Linux and shell scripting
  • Demonstrable understanding of HTTP, TCP/IP, DNS and related internet technologies
  • Experience in working within an Agile development environment
  • Display a history of creativity, innovative thought, awareness of current technical trends and high levels of motivation
  • Excellent ability to understand and express complex topics
  • Excellent English communications skill

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field,
  • AND At least 5 - 7 years of experience in software development,
  • OR Relevant combination of education and experience.
